Elena Cheung was born in Hong Kong. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications at the University of New South Wales in Australia, Master of Arts in Translation at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and obtained Alexandre Yersin Scholarship for her 2-year MSc in Management studies in France. She worked at the General Consulate of France in Hong Kong and Macao for Le French May Festival and she has been the Communications Officer at the University Museum and Art Gallery of the University of Hong Kong since 2013. She is now fully engaged the public with a wide range of outreach programmes and liaise closely with the press to promote thematic exhibitions.

Mother’s Choice (Hong Kong): I spent one evening every week taking care of and playing with special-needed babies/infants by encouraging them to sit up properly, distracting them to reduce involuntary movements, helping them to build vocabulary from single words to short sentences.
UNICEF (Hong Kong): Representing UNICEF as a voluntary ambassador, I promoted and raised the public awareness of UNICEF’s mission by asking the public to sign for the support. I also supervised secondary school students decorating exhibition boards for a photography competition.

2016 Jury of the Alexandre Yersin Scholarship
Deep interest in classical music. Obtained the Diploma of The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (DipABRSM); Learnt percussion and participated in the Junior band at the Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong and obtained Grade 8 of ABRSM. Later joined the senior band and performed at the Sydney Opera House. Currently resumed piano and pursuing for Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music.
