Ron Segal is a graduate of the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School of Jerusalem. His diploma film, “The Stain”, was shown on numerous international film festivals and awarded at the Beijing Film Festival and at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art; the script received a production grant by the Goethe Institute.
Ron Segal currently lives in Berlin as a full time writer and filmmaker. He received the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) artist-in-residence scholarship for the research and writing of his debut novel »Jeder Tag wie heute«; and an artist-in-residence scholarship from the Academy of Arts Berlin for adapting his novel into an animated feature film. The script has received a development grant from the Rabinovich Film Fund in Israel and is due to start production in 2018. The film will be produced by 2-Team Productions in Israel (“The Farewell Party”, “Next to Her”, “Sand Storm”).
Segal has written for Yedioth Ahronoth Newspaper in Israel, and for Die Welt, Die Zeit and Le Monde in Germany. His architecture-literary book installation “Migrating Books”, in collaboration with KAWAHARA KRAUSE ARCHITECTS, was shown at the Academy of Arts Berlin in 2015.
His second novel, for which he received the Alfred Döblin Writers Scholarship and the Stuttgarter Writers House Scholarship, will be published in Wallstein Verlag in 2017.
