Statement: I Advocate FEMINISM

The exhibition “Statement: I Advocate Feminism” deals with the feminist battle against everyday discrimination, sexual oppression and patriarchal modes of behaviour, and presents feminism as a general form of political and social commitment. It focuses not only on women-specific issues, but also on the transformation to equal treatment of and between the sexes and the concomitant end of patriarchy.
The exhibition, curated by Olivia Nitis, is being presented by KulturKontakt Austria and comprises works by Elena Kovylina (Russia), Igor Grubić (Croatia) & Lana Čmajčanin (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Patricia Teodorescu (Romania).

 

Artists in Residence, First Exhibition 2011

KulturKontakt Austria extends a cordial invitation to the opening of the First Artists in Residence exhibition 2011. Works by the three artists Milijana Istijanović of Montenegro, Haim Sokol of Russia and Boba Mirjana Stojadinović of Serbia will be presented. The three artists are each spending three months in Vienna as the guests of KulturKontakt Austria (KKA) in the context of the KKA Artists in Residence scholarship programme. Most of the works on display were made in Vienna.

 

Krieg. Kunst. Krise / War. Art. Crisis

Starting on 13 April, KulturKontakt Austria will be presenting the exhibition “Krieg.Kunst.Krise” (“War.Art.Crisis”), a cross section of contemporary art in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this exhibition, the curator Elio Krivdić attempts to answer the question of what impact the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the 1990s has had on the contemporary art of this country. The exhibition includes works by Edin Numankadić, Veso Sovilj, Iva Simčić, Radenko Milak and Mladen Miljanović.

"Chisinau - City Difficult to Pronounce"

KulturKontakt Austria will be showing new video works and photographs by the Moldovan artist Pavel Braila at Galerie ArtPoint. Braila, who was a KKA Artist in Residence in 2001, is now one of Moldova's most important contemporary artists.
