Development of practiceoriented vocational education
Within the EU and the partner countries, high priority is accorded to practically-orientated vocational education and training which reacts flexibly to the rapidly changing needs of the labour markets, which has the respective quality assurance mechanisms in place and offers sufficient permeability to enable the efficient use of resources. Here you will find also information about ECO NET.
KulturKontakt Austria offers support in the development of practically-orientated training profiles and regional school profiles. We promote cooperation between schools and the business world and provide support for the development of curricula and teaching materials. Important elements of our projects are in-service teacher training, the training of trainers, training for head teachers in new management forms and quality assurance as well as integration of information and communication technologies in vocational education (e.g. digital business). To a lesser degree, we also support infrastructure measures.
The main focuses with regard to sectors are on training in the fields of business, tourism and agriculture.
Project example: ECO NET
ECO NET supports the introduction of training firms and entrepreneurship learning in South Eastern Europe and thus an innovative form of highly practice-oriented teaching that fosters entrepreneurial thinking. At the same time, ECO NET supports regional exchange between pupils and education authorities. Currently, the project is being implemented at schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldavia, Montenegro and Serbia. Implementation has already been successfully completed in Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia and Romania.
At over 60 pilot schools, teachers in the project countries were offered in-service training to qualify them as training firm managers. Up to now, some 1600 training firms have been established at over 330 schools.
This project contributes to the development of curricula and handbooks and the establishment of central offices to strengthen national training firm networks, promote the training of multipliers, intensify cooperation with the business sector and organise national and international fairs.

Project example: ALBIZ
With the objective of enhancing the quality and attractiveness of commercial school education in Albania, the project ALBIZ supports the reform of commercial school education in that country in the areas of curricula, development of teaching materials, quality development, gender mainstreaming and the development of innovative forms of cooperation between schools and businesses. In order to ensure the sustainability of these developments, ALBIZ focuses on establishing them in the education system, for example through pertinent training of local in-service trainers.
