School Culture Budget for Federal Schools

The Austria-wide initiative “School Culture Budget for Federal Schools” supports artistic and cultural projects at federal schools, which are implemented in cooperation with artists of all genres.

“Programm K3” – Cultural Education with Apprentices

The project series “Programm K3” offers several modules, all of which pursue one objective: to motivate apprentices to participate in cultural activities on their own initiative by capturing their interest and involving them in communicative exchange with people working in the fields of art and culture, taking the apprentices’ own working and living circumstances as the point of departure.

p[ART] – Partnerships between Schools and Cultural Institutions

The p[ART] programme supports the development of sustainable cooperation projects between schools and cultural institutions over a period of three years.

Cultural Education with Schools at Austrian Federal Museums

As of January 2010, the Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture instituted free admission to the Austrian Federal Museums for young people under the age of nineteen, with the aim of creating low-threshold access to these cultural institutions for all children and young people.

Interculturality and Multilingualism – an Opportunity!

This initiative supports school projects dealing with the diversity of cultures and languages in schools and in society. In the context of these projects, the teaching approach “intercultural learning” is applied to a great extent on an interdisciplinary basis with the participation of all school partners, i.e. teachers, pupils and parents, as well as external artists and experts.

In the school year 2011/12 the Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture and KKA will implement the Austrian initiative „culture connected“. The main target is to support cooperation projects of schools and cultural institutions.

Power|School|Theatre

The nation-wide theatre initiative “Macht|Schule|Theater” (Power|School|Theatre) is carried out by the Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture in cooperation with KulturKontakt Austria and the DSCHUNGEL Wien theatre centre. The aim of the initiative is to have young people deal with the subject of violence and its prevention through the medium of theatre, either as participants in the productions or as members of the youthful audience..

The project series “RaumGestalten” (Designing Space) facilitates the implementation of school projects focussing on various aspects of architecture and building culture.

Artists in Residence Go to School

Artists and writers from countries such as Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia,Serbia or Turkey, who spend a period of time in Austria as KKA Artists/Writers in Residence,also work together with teachers, children and young people at Austrian schools.

Initiative „Österreichische Auslandsschulen – Orte des kulturellen Dialogs“

Die Idee des im Februar 2012 erstmals durchgeführten  Programms ist es, österreichischen Auslandsschulen die Möglichkeit zu geben, vermehrt Kunst- und Kulturvermittlungsprojekte zu verwirklichen. Der Lernort Schule soll durch die Zusammenarbeit mit KünstlerInnen und Kunst- und Kultureinrichtungen als Ort kultureller Bildung und Begegnung für alle erfahrbar gemacht werden.
