Writers in Residence
Writers and translators from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and the Ukraine can apply each year in autumn for a Milo-Dor-grant in Vienna for the following year. The award includes board and lodging, insurance and a monthly allowance, and can run for up to two months.
The author and translator Milo Dor, who described himself as an »Austrian, Viennese, and European of Serbian origin«, was a proponent of cultural dialogue with Eastern and South Eastern Europe throughout his lifetime and became one of the most important bridge builders between Austria and its southeastern neighbours. In memory of Milo Dor and his literary, cultural and political legacy, KulturKontakt Austria awards grants to authors and literary translators.
